I've been reading RH for about 3 years now. With the explosion of the bully RH and subsequently becoming an oversaturated trope, I was looking for something different to read. My Bloodline was exactly what I had been looking for without even realizing it. The book is based in an Academy setting so that trope is still there but the storyline is different from others that I have read. There's a mafia feel to it based on the importance/focus on bloodlines - I'd love to elaborate more but that would be spoiling the plot!The FMC, Luna, is tough, very sassy, a fighter, a lover, a friend and overall, a pretty special character. I felt like I could relate to her on a personal level yet I envy her strength and resilience. The guys - Roman (who I absolutely love), Parker (who is a close second), Oscar, and Kai all stand strong as individual characters. Each has a unique personality that compliments Luna and the new world she's living in. Their relationship isn't insta-love but there's no hardcore bullying, just a general dislike which is normal because what's a book without some angst?In this 340+ page novel, there is mystery, suspense, action, and high steam (*fans self*). If you're looking for something new to read in the RH genre, then I highly recommend My Bloodline. It checks all of the boxes: strong/independent FMC, loyal best friend, four hot guys, Academy, RH, and a fascinating plot. With this being her first book, the author did a great job bringing these characters to life and giving readers something new to crave. DNF 20%.I tried to get past the bad grammar. I tried to get past the horrible formatting. I even tried to get past the ‘ABSOLUTELY AMAZING BADA** SUPER SMART AND HOT AND TALENTED AND TATTOOED AND PIERCED AND DID I MENTION BADA** I MEAN SO BADA** I WEAR COMBAT BOOTS WITH DENIM SHORTS AND I USE MEN FOR SEX AND IM ONLY 18 ‘ female main character.But for a contemporary story this one just require too much suspension of disbelief. From the MC to the premise to the school she’s forced to attend - it just got more and more ridiculous. Coupled with the aforementioned issues and I just couldn’t do it.Grammar is important. Correct formatting is important. Believable, relatable characters are important. For a contemporary story, setting and plot believability is important.Sorry to say I had to give up.
